Simple, Yet Cutting Edge Journey Of A CTO

CTO, title comes with its own weight and loads of responsibilities, this I have learnt and imbibed within my attitude since I grabbed this title through my dedication towards my work… doesn’t the word “dedication” sound so plastic!! Yes, it does, and at least to me, because for a person like me who had always been a tech-geek, turning into a people’s person was not an easy journey, and was not a part of dedication but it took my sweat and blood to be a peacemaker between management, client and my team.

My career graph, like many others had a bad taste of life with its own set of struggles. Perhaps, that phase made me sensitive towards the issues faced by my team. A technical team is far more technical than the word technical and lacks how to voice their needs in a way, it should be. My team was also nothing different than others initially, but counseling, proper skills trained them to be a TEAM. But when I look at some other aspects then somewhere they still feel left behind, for instance; my team member Ashish, an exceptional app developer with no grumpy codings asked me one fine day, “Preeti Ma’am, hadn’t it been great, if I was a little bit more trained so I could use machine learning technology”, I told him this service is available with Amazon & Microsoft Azure, but as per him he found it a little bit tricky. Well, his demand was absolute, since such service could enhance his developing skills. But having no other option left to me mum.

Well, late march, proved to be a blessing for developers like Ashish. Google launched the “CLOUD MACHINE LEARNING” a most fertile area of innovation in our industry. First person, I informed was Ashish, and he went speeches with the joy. Machine Learning is a service that makes it easy for developers of all skill levels to use machine learning technology. Google has invested its two decades of engineering on Cloud Machine Learning. It allows the innovation to build in portfolio of data management and analytics capabilities by adding new products and services in multiple key areas. This service will let the developers to create applications that can see, hear and understand the world around them. This journey will take developers on a journey to create a new class of intelligent applications. It provides access to the same technologies that power Google Now, Google Photos and voice recognition in Google Search as easy to use REST APIs. It enables the developers to build powerful Machine Learning models on their data using the open- source TensorFlow machine learning library.

My tech-team is super excited about this announcement and I look forward to seeing the innovative ways they will use this new piece of technology. Again a life of a CTO, is where technology rules..
