We work with clients, not for the clients, this was the statement I was told during my interview with Techugo – a top mobile app development company and I feel proud to announce them my current employer for past 2 years. Also, this statement roamed around me during my induction and then gradually it made its impact on me, and I understood the work strategy and the demand for my work.  To proceed with the app development process is not just a boring cycle, but is a relationship which you built with your clients to make their dream come true. An app development process can be a far easier task to achieve if the client’s expectations are not excluded from the development part, and rather took it as a mission to be accomplished. On being asked, any marketing person would provide you a well-learnt definition of best client-service, but it can be proven hollow if you don’t integrate the required features of your client service, which varies as per the domain and as per the audience type. Here I have compiled a few of the essentials to be incorporated by every app development company and interweave it with the app development process.

  • Be Flexible With Your Approach

It is quite obvious for the clients to indulge in the pool of expectations, which they have already filled with their dreams, on the other hand, every app developer needs to be flexible enough in their approach and should not be rigid to impose their thoughts on their clients. You need to understand and explain the things to your clients in the most amicable way, so it can bring the successful mobile app as a final product.

  • App Development Is A Relationship

Many app developers have a misconception, that their involvement is no more needed in anyways, once the app is launched on the respective app store, but they are not well aware of the fact that app development is the only basic phase, the real picture comes into the light, once the app is ready and its marketing gets initiated. Once the app goes live, you have to be an attentive listener to your client’s requirement, which will be echoed through the reviews and feedback, put your efforts and root out the bugs before they turn into a big stink.

  • Be Transparent

Every client wants to save a penny, if need be, and does not want to let it go waste for a superfluous reason. You can’t expect your client to hand over their account details, so you can invest as it requires in the app development process. You need to be intellectual enough to inform the client the rough order of calculation for the app development beforehand, don’t take a risk of integrating the feature or app functionality, without the consent of your client. Remember, if your concept goes well with their demand, there is never a NO from your client’s end to proceed with the functionality. Don’t surprise or shock your clients with the unexpected invoice all of a sudden.

  • Your Client Is Not As Technical You Are

As an app developer, you have to play a slow and steady game, where the chance of winning the race is always higher. Your client has a concept to be built as an app, but don’t expect that your client is well-versed with the technical know-how, and they can ask for any feature or functionality, something which either can be time or cost consuming, so if you find any technical glitch in achieving what your client expects, then it is always better to discuss and share the alternative method to be implemented. Tell the reason behind and your client would grace your decision.

  • Research The Audience

Every business has its own demand and targeted audiences when you opt for the app development process for your client, then you have to be a partner for them in the development process. To understand their business functionalities, you need to indulge in the client’s business and understand it much deeply. You need to do market research for their respective audience and what they are looking for in the mobile app. Most of the time, the app developers work on their own working strategies and forget the demand of the client’s audience, which results in a futile product to be called as a mobile app.

That was the reason my manager taught me time and again “Work With The Client Not For The Clients”, this statement accentuates itself very well. As an app developer, if you are able to understand the actual need of your client and able to deliver what is expected, then on an honest note the app developed by your end would be a masterpiece and you would ultimately receive the trust and the prospective referrals from your existing clients.

  • Improve Your Client Interactions

I agree that you hold a strong communication channel within your company, but if you fail to relate to your client’s needs, then it is all a waste. You need to ensure, the communication channel to involve, the following points are integrated within your communication channel:

  • Let the clients feel ‘Heard’
  • There is no harm in accepting your mistake
  • Follow-up after an issue is resolved
  • Develop relationships, so your clients can share their concerns easily
  • Be available, regardless of their time-zone limitations
  • Show empathy, patience and consistency

It’s crucially important for your client service team to adapt the right skills to manage the client’s needs. No amount of CRM software can compensate for shortcomings in this area. It is not a hard nut to crack but can be a cake walk for you, if integrated well and efficiently. You need to be proactive with your client’s and seek their feedback and review to improve the work quality and increase the work productivity.
